Previous: [[Journey along the Black Sea]] ---- May 25th 1215. The party arrived at [[Trebizond]], and managed to find accommodation via a merchant that Captain [[Petros]] already knew and was planning to do business with. [[Rosboroda]] was nervous about being recognised in Trebizond, so was disguised to be taken ashore, using [[Toros]]'s 'Preternatural Growth and Shrinking'. Once all were settled ashore, all were paid for the last month's time. A small party [[Umberto]], [[Alexander Mysticus]] and a couple of shield grogs made an initial visit to [[Parunak]], the merchant contact that [[Ibrahim]] ex [[Mercere]] of [[Venti Rosa]] had used on the way to search for the Covenant of [[the Spear]] on his abortive attempt to contact them. After an initial meeting Parunak agreed to visit the whole party the next day for longer discussions. He gave them some tips about things they might want to consider when planning their journey. May 26th 1215. Parunak, a clerk, and a guard, visited the party. After long discussions, it was agreed that he would provide them with mules, a pony, and food. The party would take the inland route, climbing south through the [[Pontic Alps]] before turning east, and following down the river valley of the [[Arax River]], until they were guided to continue east from it to [[Erevan]] In the discussions, Parunak and Umberto discussed the notes provided by [[Ibrahim]], originally written by [[Hamazasp]] describing the location of the covenant. They described a route to a town called [[Bash Gyarni]], and then the need to make contact via a temple, or a monastery, above the town. Some careful dissection of the language used confirmed that there were two monasteries referred to to in the notes, and that the one needed was the old one with the cave church. ---- Next: [[Journey into the interior]] [[Category:Chronicle]] [[Category:1215 Spring]]
